The Art of Family on film
A Maternity session with the Rimmer family in Doylestown PA
SALT & STAG FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY
PHOTOGRAPHING MATERNITY is about so more than a growing belly; it’s about capturing all the unique details of a growing family. This maternity shoot with the Rimmer family had three fabulous participants - the beautiful Krystal who is expecting twins and still looking incredible, her husband Sean (girl dad extraordinaire), and the soon-to-be big sister Charlee, who was of course the star of our show. I wanted their gallery to capture all three of them at this magical moment in their growing family’s life - just before the arrival of Quinn & Cole!
KRYSTAL IS OUT HERE making twin-maternity look easy - so I really wanted to capture her ease in these shots. Her steadiness is so powerful to be around - I imagine that she is the calm in the storm to her community, and I wanted her maternity gallery to reflect that.
Of course Krystal wasn’t the only one over the moon about the arrival of their new kiddos C & Q. Sean is looking more in love with Krystal than ever, so I had to snag a few shots of our expecting parents as well. I was living for the light leaks on these! Golden hour did it again.
MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE part of this shoot was getting to capture little Ms. Charlee, on her journey to becoming a big sister. Whether she was making little bouquets, whispering secrets to her soon-to-be brother and sister, or celebrating life with her beautiful, growing family, Charlee was thriving on shoot day.
I love that her parents wanted to document these final days when it was just the three of them! When I put their gallery together, I imagined that Charlee would be able to look back through the album and remember how special this time was, how ready she was to become a big sister, and how excited she was to meet Quinn & Cole! Check out some of my favorite shots from her gallery. (How cool is this kiddo!? I mean come onnnnn!)
WHATEVER YOUR FAMILY LOOKS LIKE, whatever season you’re in, you deserve keepsakes of this moment. It is my absolute honor to be a part of capturing your story. As a documentary-style family photographer, my goal is to capture authentic, unposed moments. And this shoot was a perfect example of how magical galleries can be when a family is allowed to just play together. I’m just along for the ride.
Rather than staging portraits, I want to preserve real emotion and small, sacred details. If that sounds like how you want to document your family, reach out! I’d love to book you for a family session this season.
Long live the little moments,
xo Jackie
